News on Topeka Drivers at the Eastern Grands June 2008

The Wilcox family made the trip to Connecticut for the 2008 Eastern Grands with Alex and Adam being the only drivers
to make this race from the Topeka club.   The Wilcox family moved from Massachusetts to the Kansas City area this
past spring; Earl knows the Silver City track well.   That New Englander experience paid off in qualifying with Adam
setting fast time and a new track record in the Light 160 class.   Congratulations Adam.   All was well in the Wilcox
family through the Light 160 class with the following qualifying results:

Senior Honda – Alex qualified 19th out of 80 cars
Senior Stock – Alex qualified 8th out of 35 cars
Light Modified – Adam qualified 2nd out of 35 cars
Light GX160 – Adam qualified 1st our of 70 cars

But, lady-luck turned on the Wilcox family in the World Formula qualifying session.   A second-fast time in the 41 car
World Formula field was for naught when an equipment disqualification (transponder location) sent Adam and his
silver Stanley all the way back to the H-main.   We could almost hear Adam all the way back in Topeka: “the what
main?”   So Earl loaded up on rubber and started racing through the World Formula mains, winning the H, G, F, and D
mains.   But, a silk purse was not to be made from this sow’s ear as Adam did not get out of the C-main in his World
Formula.

The Wilcox family made the trip back to Kansas with the following hardware:

Senior Honda – Alex in the 25th position
Senior Stock – Alex with a 7th place A-main finish
Light Modified – Adam with a 4th place A-main finish
Light GX160 – Adam with a 3rd place A-main finish and Fast Time
World Formula – Adam in the 17th position

Congratulations on all those A-main races!
