Meeting Minutes For Wednesday January 21, 2009:

Meeting called to order at 6:11pm.

Meeting minutes from our last meeting were approved.

  1. Presidents Update
  1. Minnesota track status
    Jennifer Oldham sent an email regarding the status of Minnesota club.  They have received the
    okay to move forward and they are planning on building a new track next year.
  1. National Meeting
    The National Meeting is being held February 5-7, 2009 in Las Vegas.  Jennifer Oldham will be
    attending the meeting.

  1. Secretary
  1. Bylaws and Racing Rules
    The board has reviewed the Bylaws and Racing Rules from the 2008 racing season and there
    were no changes.  If anyone would like to have a copy of these they can be found on the website
    (Topekaqma.org).
  1. Contact Information Update
    The 2009 TKQMA Contact list was handed out.

  1. 2008 Final Financial Recap
    Jeanne Waisner handed out the 2008 financial recap.  She also handed out a projected budget;
    the projected budget shows the financial importance of hosting a Monza race each year.

  1. 2009 Race Schedule
    Jennifer Oldham announced that the board has a tentative race schedule put  together however we are
    not going to hand it out or post it until it is determined which Region we will be in.

  1. National QMA Business
  1. Rule Change Proposals
  2. Chris Swader read the rule change proposals and club members voted.  The results will be sent to our
    Regional Director, Michael Hughes.

  1. Other
  1. There was a discussion regarding MN track tire.  Chirs Swader advised that if you want to be in the MN
    club point series then you would have to run their track tire otherwise you run what ever tires you want.  
    The Monza was brought up however it was tabled until we know what Region we are going to be in.
     
  1. The question was asked why Region Director Michael Hughes sent out ballots and asked our club
    members to vote on which region they prefer if the National Board has the ultimate decision.  Earl Wilcox
    felt that the national board would probably go with the results of the membership vote.

  1. Dave Howard made a motion that TKQMA not spend money on goodwill items without approval of the
    club.  The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

  1. Grands Proposals

    The club members voted to support Austin in their bid for the 2010 Grands.

  1. Charlie Ellis advised that each driver will need to have a neck brace with the SFI rating tag on it and each
    driver will be required to have a full racing suit, jeans are no longer allowed.  

  1. Stephanie Edwards advised that she has a lot of addresses of people that signed up at Kids Fest. She
    would like to have postcards made with the Need for Speed information to mail to these folks.  A motion
    was made and passed for her to spend up to $350.00 on postcards and postage.

  1. Pat Commerford mentioned that Dirtzilla brought a lot of interest in quarter midget racing.
